Angelika Milster – The Diva of Musicals
Angelika Milster—a name that is synonymous with the Unusual, rare, The Extravagant and the Extraordinary, the Diva.
Angelika Milster was born in Neustrelitz She was born and raised in Hamburg. She began taking singing lessons at the age of twelve and attended Margot Höpfner’s renowned acting school from 1968 to 1971. On television, Angelika Milster became a sought-after Actress in TV series such as “Der Landarzt” (ZDF), “Salto Kommunale” (ZDF), “Mama ist unmöglich” (MDR), and “Körner & Köter” (SAT1), as well as in films such as “Der König von Dulsberg” (1994, with Götz George), “Club Las Piranjas” (1995, with Hape Kerkeling), and “All Because of Robert De Niro” (1996, with Götz Alsmann).
Starting in 1994, Angelika Milster took on a number of CDs featuring pop hits . Right away, for her first album, *Ich liebe Dich*, she received the ECHO German Record Award. She received another ECHO nomination in 2000. A year later, she returned to the stage and appeared in the German premiere of the musical “Mozart!” in Hamburg.
A completely different musical direction followed in early 2002: For a series of Church Concerts Angelika Milster developed a completely new repertoire of classical and sacred songs. Both the audience and the press responded with equal enthusiasm, so this program has since become a regular feature of her annual concert performances.
That same year, she appeared at the Crossover CD “Milster.” with a musical diversity unlike anything seen before: She performed songs from films and musicals, sang pop and Schlager, but also paid tribute to artists such as Elvis Presley, Queen and ABBA paid her respects and, in addition, with her Interpretations of Classics such as “Granada” and “Torna a Surriento” held some surprises. She continued to demonstrate her artistic versatility time and again in the years that followed. For example, she provided the voice in the German-dubbed version of the The Hollywood movie “Shrek 2 She played the role of the Fairy Godmother, took on the title role in “Lysistrata” at the Antikenfestspiele in Trier, and, together with actor Max Krückl, shed light on the ills of today’s society in the program “Ansichtssache” at the Theater der Wühlmäuse in Berlin.
After a Christmas CD (“From the Bottom of My Heart”) and another Crossover Album (“Through the Eyes of Love”) In 2006, she went on tour with "The Folk Music Surprise Festival" in more than 50 cities and was able to RTL comedy series “Angie” once again shine with the comedic side of her acting talent.
In response to requests from many fans, she released another CD featuring schlager-style songs in the spring of 2008 ("I say yes"). As a live performer, Angelika Milster remains one of the most sought-after artists in the country. From the 2006 New Year’s Eve Gala with the WDR Radio Orchestra to the 2008 New Year’s Concert with the SWR Big Band, from her Christmas program "Swinging Christmas" until the gala concert "Diva Maxima", which she performed in Dresden in August 2008 alongside Montserrat Caballé, Milva, and the Babelsberg Film Orchestra, she won over audiences everywhere with her wide-ranging repertoire. She returned to musical theater in May 2009 with the solo program "I am who I am" back, which is located in Essen Grillo Theater celebrated its acclaimed premiere, and that same year it was staged at Berlin's Renaissance Theater in the song drama "Forever Young" to experience. The production won the Audience Award from the Berlin Theater Club Excellent.
In addition to her theatre work, Angelika Milster expanded her church concert tours in the following years. Her programmes “Begegnungen” and “Von ganzem Herzen” were attended by enthusiastic audiences at well over 500 concerts throughout Germany. In 2013, another CD was released under the title “Du hast mir Glück gebracht”, with which Angelika Milster appeared as a guest on “Willkommen bei Carmen Nebel” and ZDF-Fernsehgarten, among others.
From autumn 2016, Angelika Milster could be seen in the title role of the world premiere musical “Doris Day – Day by Day” at the Schlossparktheater in Berlin. More than thirty performances took place to sold-out houses. In January 2017, the premiere of “Wunschkinder” at Berlin’s Renaissance-Theater followed, where she also appeared in the production “Ewig jung”.
In summer 2017, Angelika Milster launched her new solo concert programme “Milster singt Musical” with four successful preview concerts in Austria. Further individual concerts of this programme followed in 2017/18, and in autumn 2018 there was a major Germany tour with 14 dates.
In the meantime, “Doris Day – Day by Day” went on tour throughout Germany, and from 24 September 2017 Angelika Milster once again took on a major challenge that became another highlight for the singer and actress: the role of “Norma Desmond” in Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Sunset Boulevard” at Theater Altenburg Gera. Summer 2018 was devoted to “Im weißen Rössl” — Angelika Milster delighted audiences at the Renaissance-Theater Berlin. From September 2018, she portrayed “Tangolita” in Paul Abraham’s operetta “Ball im Savoy” at Theater Lübeck. At the end of the year, the music-theatre production “Im Wechselspiel der Liebe”, based on a novel by Rosamunde Pilcher (book and lyrics by Claus Beling and music by Richard Blackford), premiered in Austria and Germany.
The song drama “Ewig jung” celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2019 on the stage of Berlin’s Renaissance-Theater. Angelika Milster has been part of the ensemble, unchanged since the premiere. The production continues to appear on the traditional theatre’s programme from time to time.
In November 2021, Angelika Milster appeared as the “Egg” in the musical satire “Der Eierwurf von Halle”, produced by Jan Böhmermann, on ZDF Magazin Royale.
In autumn 2021 and spring 2022, a “gala concert tour” took place with Angelika Milster and the Vogtland Philharmonie. The programme included songs from musicals, chansons and classical music, as well as modern pop songs.
In October 2021, “Berlin Skandalös” at Theater Dortmund marked another acclaimed premiere with Angelika Milster appearing as the Diva. The theatre described “Berlin Skandalös” as the “exciting and fast-paced prelude” to its Dortmund production of “Cabaret”, which was to be seen at the same venue from autumn 2022. In this production, Angelika Milster portrays “Fräulein Schneider”.
From autumn 2022, the revival of the music-theatre production “Im Wechselspiel der Liebe”, based on a novel by Rosamunde Pilcher, was scheduled at the Komödie im Bayerischen Hof.
In summer 2022, filming was completed for a four-part series sequel to the cult film “Club Las Piranjas”. As in the film, Angelika Milster once again appears alongside Hape Kerkeling. The series was first scheduled to be shown on RTL+ from 19 October 2023 and later on RTL.
The solo concert programme “Milster singt Musical” will continue in autumn 2023, and a new church concert programme will premiere in winter 2023 under the title “Wintermomente”.
In October 2022, Angelika Milster received the German Musical Theater Honorary Award. According to the German Musical Academy, the award honours an outstanding artist who has successfully championed German-language musical theatre and contributed greatly to the popularity of musical productions.
At the Komische Oper Berlin, Angelika Milster takes on the role of restaurant owner Jacqueline in the successful musical La Cage aux Folles – Ein Käfig voller Narren in spring 2024. The musical will also be revived in the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 seasons.
In summer 2025, Angelika Milster will portray the witch Roma Annerose Malifix in the world premiere of Walpurga – Das Musical at the Harzer Bergtheater Thale.
Alongside her musical engagements, the moving church concerts will continue in 2025/2026.

André Bauer – The Producer
André Bauer studied piano and clarinet in Zurich and Paris. In 1968, he received his first engagement at the Zurich Opera House. Alongside his work as a conductor, he became active as a composer and arranger. With his appointment as musical director at the playhouses in Zurich and Basel, he established his passion for film and theatre music.
His career was repeatedly closely connected with some of the most renowned names in musical life; he worked with directors such as Hans Hollmann, Hans Neuenfels, Arie Zinger, Prof. Sellner, Leopold Lindberg and many others. He produced, composed and conducted for BMG Ariola, Polydor, Universal, EMI, CBS and Sony Music, can look back on more than 80 productions at the Schauspielhaus Zürich, Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf, Schillertheater Berlin, Staatstheater Bonn and the Basel theatres, and wrote the music for two Israeli ballet productions. In 1980, André Bauer produced the music for “The Last Days of Mankind” for the Vienna Festival / ORF (directed by Hans Hollmann). This marked his first encounter with Peter Weck. In 1982, Peter Weck was appointed artistic director of Theater an der Wien, and André Bauer became the theatre’s musical director and chief conductor. There he conducted the acclaimed German-language premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical “Cats” and produced the gold- and platinum-certified recording of the stage success.
In 1985, on the occasion of his first Japan tour, André Bauer brought together international pop and jazz musicians with members of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. The album “Midnight Cruise”, produced by André Bauer, presented an inspiring fusion of jazz and classical elements — a musical direction that would continue to captivate the successful musician: crossover. In 1987, André Bauer left the Theater an der Wien and worked freelance as a composer, conductor and producer. For more than 90 films and television series, including “Tatort” (ARD), “Ein Fall für Zwei” (ZDF), “Ein Bayer auf Rügen” (33 episodes, SAT.1), “The Visit” (international production with Maria Schell), and many others. Angelika Milster and André Bauer have been working together artistically since 1983. The singer’s major successes, such as the albums “Meisterstücke”, “MILSTER.”, “Ich sage ja”, “Mit den Augen der Liebe” and “Du hast mir Glück gebracht”, as well as countless concert programmes, were produced and musically directed by him. The personal bond between Milster and Bauer has also endured: the two have been married since 1987.
